A very good day

Not one but BOTH of my kids had interviews today – and not only that, but both of them had JOBS by the end of their interview.

Tamara’s going to be working at a Subway while she keeps applying to PR jobs.

And Jess starts at a day care on Monday for a trial period. Even better, it is within walking distance. A long walk by my standards – about 45 minutes – but she used to walk quite a bit longer than that when she was going to school …so it will work for her.

I am SO relieved.

And as if that wasn’t enough, there was more good news too – my camera came back from Kodak’s repair centre. Well, not MY camera – but a replacement one, anyway.

So when Ross & I went to the Art of the Book show in Toronto, I was able to take my own pictures.

Really enjoyed it – I’m glad we went. Stopped at the Market Buffet in Barrie for dinner – ate WAY too much.

flit’s back to school countdown – 6 days

So … had tons of stuff I wanted to get done this week and so far it is just NOT HAPPENING.

A whole lot of stress & aggravation yesterday – I did start making progress on my psych essay … but only just. Then Ross got home and the day just rolled downhill quickly from there. Tons of kidShit I could without… but we will get it sorted.  Somehow or other.

Decided to quit stressing so much about the reading – anything that doesn’t get read this week, I can read after my training sessions etc next week. It will be my first week of staying in a motel without Ross … should be able to get some of it done.  The psychology paper and my sanity need to come first.

Got offered a course to teach this coming semester at Georgian, but they had already scheduled it in for Tuesdays and weren’t willing to change it to Thursday to suit my schedule. I am almost relieved – I think I will have quite enough to keep me busy this semester, really. And the money wouldn’t even really be good enough to make it worthwhile either – when you teach 3 or more courses you are paid well…just one, I usually get about half of my hourly rate & no benefits. I would have done it – but I’m more than okay with not doing it, too.

I could have should have made progress on my paper today – but this is what I decided to do instead:

Grandma Lee & Colton out on Georgian Bay.

Some things are just more important than stressing about kids and school.

YAY for Tamara

YAY for Tamara

I am a happy mom this week!

Both of my kids are now college graduates… Jess finished a couple of semesters back, and now Tamara is also all done. She finished her placement yesterday – and that was her last hoop to jump through.

Now they just both need jobs in their fields – Jess is working at Wonderland – but that’s soon going to end for the season… time to find a job in a day care. Tamara’s earned her diploma in Public Relations, so that’s where she’ll be looking.

I am so proud of them both.
